At fist this game didn't grab my attention but I had made the mistake of buying a "Master Pilot" from Quickshot, thinking that because it was from quickshot it would be a great tool. WRONG. Don't get me wrong Quickshot Joysticks are among the best and i have owned Quickshot joysticks from the Commodore 64 but that is neither here nor there. upon trying out this toy i find that i have neither the space or the initiative to make space for this device. So i spend a bout 5 hours looking through Babbage's looking for something that interested me. I was torn between getting several older games and this Hexen II. Guess witch one i picked.
First of all i would like to recomend this game due to it's easy interface and also it's remarcably compelling plot line. The bad-ass graphics don't hurt the game either. The game, without a GL compatable video card is a little chunky but still very cool, but with a Diamond Monster 3D, the latest driver update and a Diamond Stealth 2000 Pro it kicks some serious ass with it's new GLide2 technology.
The basic jist of the game is you are some pissed off peasant or other you can choose from four different adventurer types:
Crusader
Paladin
Assasin
and Necromancer.
My favorites are the Assasin and the necromancer because they have the most destructive and long range weapons and also because let's face it who want's to be a goody two shoes?
There are four stages to this game beginning with your home town(i'm assuming.) Anyway you start off in this little mideaval village with the usual temple and statues and grave markers etc.
First of all as you play you start off with one weapon. depending on which character you choose decides which weapons you can have. The assassin's weapon is some form of dagger, kind of a psuedo-klingon kind of weapon. The necomancer starts with a sicle. the paladin start off with just his fists (poor guy). And finally the crusader starts off with his everfaithfull war hammer.
